PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable three-position control on a movable plunger and moreover reduce wasteful power consumption. SOLUTION: This plunger solenoid device is so constituted, that when a specified large current is passed through a coil 2, a second movable plunger 5 is attracted and driven and is allowed to be attracted and driven to a prescribed position, where its movement is arrested by contact of a first movable plunger 4 with the second movable plunger 5. In addition, when a specified small current is passed through the coil 2, the attraction and drive of the second movable plunger 5 is arrested by spring force, and the first movable plunger 4 is allowed to be attracted and driven beyond the prescribed specified position. Furthermore, after the movable plungers started, a retaining current which is smaller than the specified large current and prescribed small current is passed through to retain the positions of the movable plungers.
