For instance, in this display device, three mode designation signals MODS, MODW and MODN for designating a screen mode of a displayed image are superimposed on a vertical flyback period outside the frame which does not contribute to the displayed image in a NTCS system video signal, and a screen display mode is switched based on them. A video processing circuit 12 performs prescribed processing of an analog system video signal given from a car navigation device 11.
