PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital information recorder that can record both a digital SD image signal and a digital HD image signal that are transmitted nearly simultaneously and can efficiently utilize a limited recording capacity of the recording medium and to provide the recording medium in which the digital SD image signal and the digital HD image signal of the same contents are efficiently recorded. SOLUTION: A delay circuit 5 delays an SD image signal SDV by a delay time TDLY, and an information quantity DRHDV per unit time of an HD image signal HDV and an information quantity DRSDVD per unit time of a delayed SD image signal SDV are monitored and the distribution of a data rate in the case of multiplexing is decided in response to the information quantities DRHDV and DRSDVD trough statistic multiplexing.
