PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably manufacture an election emitting element having high efficiency of electron emission capable of realizing a high-performance image forming device having high brightness and excellent operational stability. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method for the electron emitting element having a conductive film including an electron emitting part between a pair of element electrodes, cracks are formed in the conductive film, thereafter pulse voltage is impressed between the element electrodes in the atmosphere including an organic material such that the length (T10-T1N) of the pulse voltage impressing time is increased gradually to the length of the non-impressing time.
