PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make controlling ON/OFF of a liquid crystal with application of a potential difference feasible by attaining a desired display while eliminating influence of a static charge making a potential difference resulting from it come to zero. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element comprises two insulating substrates 1, 2 having electrode patterns 3 and 4 formed on the respective surfaces and a liquid crystal layer held between the two insulating substrates 1, 2. Here, the electrode patterns 3, 4 of the two respective insulating substrates 1, 2, placed opposite to each other via the liquid crystal layer, are connected with each other via a coil 13.
