PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the intensity of a multimode laser beam by at least partially superposing the 1st part of the cross section of a multimode laser beam on the 2nd part thereof and forming the superposed laser beams. SOLUTION: The individual laser beams 24a to 24c are partially changed to differ from the rest parts. In such a case, the halves of the respective laser beams 24a to 24c outgoing from collecting lenses 64a to 64c are delayed from the other parts by 1/2 wavelength. Three laser beams outgoing from the lenses 64a to 64c and passing through wave motion plates 65a to 65c are turned toward a galvo mirror deflector 40. In a Wollaston prism 69, the different parts of the respective laser beams 24a to 24C are superposed and become the narrower and more focused laser beams. After scanning by a galvo mirror, a scanning beam passes through a scanning lens 50 and is made incident on recording material 30.
