PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To defrost an evaporator quickly without leaving frost by stopping a fan for an arbitrary time before starting defrost operation of the evaporator through a defrost means. SOLUTION: During cooling operation, a microcomputer counts the integrated operating time of a compressor 20 using a function thereof, i.e., a timer, and makes a decision whether the integrated operating time of the counter has reached 8 hours. Upon elapsing 8 hours after previous defrost operation, the microcomputer makes a decision whether the inner temperature is lower than a set level. At a moment when the inner temperature drops below the set level, the fan 11 is stopped for an arbitrary time before starting defrost operation of the evaporator 10 thus enhancing defrost efficiency while eliminating frost.
