PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience and crime preventiveness when a called resident in a house answers to a call. SOLUTION: Voice messages S1a, S1b... for answering calls are inputted and generated by the resident in the house by using the handset 28 of an interphone master device 2 and as a means for answering a call made by a visitor at the house entrance, a voice message for answering the call is properly selected by using a selection button 24 while character messages S2a, S2b... having the contents of the voice messages S1a, S1b... replaced with character strings are confirmed on a monitor 27 and reproduced as a voice for answering to the visitor by the slave device speaker 13 of an intercom slave device 1, so that the handset 28 need not be lifted, thereby improving the convenience in call answering.
