PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide edition number management device/method for constitution, which efficiently retrieve constitution information, by storing constitution information of tree structure in a storage device without overlapping. SOLUTION: The edition number management device is constituted of an input device 10 with which an operator inputs data, a data processor 16 having a retrieval means 12 obtaining constitution information containing a master name and the number of editions and a data assembly means 14 assembling the constitution of the arbitrary number of editions obtained from constitution information, a constitution information storage device 18 storing constitution information and an output device 20 outputting data. Constitution information is constituted of the master name, a slave name and the number of plural editions and it is stored in the constitution information storage device 18 in a table system.
