PURPOSE: A detecting device for the residual fuel of a fuel tank is provided to light an alarm lamp when fuel is short by installing a flow rate sensor in a regular position from the bottom of the fuel tank without an error. CONSTITUTION: A residual fuel detecting device consists of a fuel tank(1) storing fuel; a fuel sender(2) fixed to the wall of the fuel tank; a float(4) detecting fuel amount by moving upward or downward with the fuel sender; a flow rate sensor(5) fixed to a regular position from the bottom of the flow rate sensor to sense residual fuel; a height adjustable rod(7) fixing the flow rate sensor; a supporting member(9) supporting the rod from the fuel sender; and a return spring(12) placing the flow rate sensor in a regular position by sticking the lower end of the rod on the bottom of the fuel tank. Thus, even though the fuel sender is installed on the wall of the fuel tank with an error or the length of the supporting member is different, the error is eliminated since the return spring is expanded or constricted so that the installation position of the flow rate sensor is kept in regular.
