PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic discharge lamp with which the positions of discharge electrodes with respect to a discharge container is correctly defined and thereby, the distance between the electrodes is properly controlled. SOLUTION: This ceramic discharge lamp is provided with a discharge container 10 having an arc tube part 11 formed of light transmissive ceramics and sealing tube parts 12 continuously formed to the arc tube part 11, and is so composed that a pair of discharge electrodes 13 are arranged opposite to each other in the arc tube part 11, electrode rods 14 having the discharge electrodes 13 at their tip parts are positioned in the sealing tube parts 12, and sealing members 16 to which the base end parts of the electrode rods 14 are fixed are sealed in the sealing tube parts 12 by frit sealing bodies 18. At that time, the inside end face of each of the sealing members 16 is abutted on the outside end face of the corresponding sealing tube part 12, an annular groove extending throughout the entire circumference is formed between each of the sealing tube parts 12 and the corresponding sealing member 16, and the frit sealing body 18 is filled in the annular groove.
