PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature detector having a temperature sensor which comes into contact with a moving member to be measured when the member stops and comes away from it when it is moving without providing a power source or a control circuit, and to provide a fixing apparatus including the temperature detector. SOLUTION: A pair of fixing members Fh, Fp for fixing an unfixed toner image on a recording sheet S which passes through a fixing region QF of a pressure welding region of the pair of fixing members Fh, Fp; a sensor support member 8 for movably supporting a temperature sensor SNt which detects a temperature on a surface of the fixing member Fh, between a contact position where the sensor is in contact with the fixing member Fh and a distant position where it is distant; and interlocking separation mechanisms 2 to 12 for moving the sensor member 8 to the contact position in contact with the surface of the fixing member Fh when the fixing member Fh stops, and also for moving it to the distant position distant from the fixing member Fh interlockingly with rotational movement of the fixing member Fh when the fixing member Fh rotates are provided.
