PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved communications system, which uses a compatible method with an efficient existing synchronous digital/hierarchy network(SDH) by equipping a means for compensating a delay due to the path length which are different in individual virtual container. SOLUTION: A data adapter function receives data of a packet format of a wider band width than a specified band width in one node. A data linearizer, a data analyzer, link/group management, overhead/bite insertion inverse multiplex the data, regardless of a packet boundary and transmit them to other node by plural virtual containers. VC-IM-n overhead/bite extraction 50, a link/ group management 51, delay compensation and data reaggregation 52 receive these data at other node and reaggregate them. Delay compensation and data reaggregation unit 52 compensate a delay generated by the different in path lengths of individual virtual container.
