PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience for users by speedily and variously dealing with the reception of text broadcasting, even when a sound source selected by a selector is any other sound source such as CD or MD other than a tuner. SOLUTION: In this audio system, when other sound source (such as CD 108 or MD 109) other than a tuner 115 is selected by a selector 120 and the band of reception due to the tuner 115 is AM, after it immediately displays to the effect that text information cannot be displayed, the display concerning other sound sources selected by the selector 120 is performed. Even if the band of reception due to the tuner 115 is FM, while the FM multiplex data of text broadcasting are not received, after it displayed the fact that the text information cannot be displayed immediately, the display concerning the other sound sources selected by the selector 120 is performed.
