摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photo-magneto-optical head which is small in size and capable of performing high density recording and to provide a recording and reproducing device in which the head is provided, the power consumption is low and the access time is high. SOLUTION: This magnetic head is provided with a first through-hole 12 which passes from the floating surface of a floating type slider 10 whose surface opposing a recording medium floats, toward the opposing surface, a solid immersion lens 13 which constitutes an optical head section buried in the through-hole 12 and a portion of the magneto-optical head and an energizing coil 14 which constitutes a portion of the magneto-optical head section formed on the bottom surface of the lens 13. A mesa section 13a is integrally formed with the lens 13. The section 13a is projected to the surface side which opposes the recording medium and the cross section has an approximate trapezoidal shape. The section 13a is formed so that its center axis coincides with an optical axis.
