PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methane gas storage method to stably store methane gas at a low pressure. SOLUTION: An adsorbent 24 is contained in a pressure container 10 in a pentagonal shape in cross section, and water 14 is introduced until gaps between the adsorbents 24 are filled with water. Methane gas 20 is introduced as water 14 and activated coal 24 are agitated by an agitating device 12 to generate methane hydrate. The generation of the methane hydrate is started in the fine hole of the adsorbent 24. The generated methane hydrate is stably present at a high temperature and a low pressure. Thereby, the storage of the methane gas by the methane hydrate is further stably carried out.
