<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square chip resistor having a shape that makes the resistor hard to clog in a transfer tube, even if the resistor is mounted by means of a batch mounting machine for cylindrical chip resistor. SOLUTION: In a square chip resistor, a resistance layer 14 is formed in such a way that the layer 14 partially overlaps a pair of upper-surface electrode layers 12 formed on one main surface of a prism-like insulating substrate 11, and at least two or more island-like independent protective layers 16 and 17 are formed in such a way that the layers 16 and 17 completely cover the resistance layer 14 and do not reach the side faces of the substrate 11 and the areas of the layers 16 and 17 are made successively smaller.</p> |
