摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection liquid crystal display device which is bright and has a satisfactory contrast. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device 200 is constituted by providing a following illuminator 100 in front of a reflection liquid crystal display panel 4. The illuminator 100 is provided with a light transmission plate 1 at whose end face a light source 2 capable of making a light enter from the end face of the plate 1 is provided and on whose surface of one side ruggedness shapes are formed and a light direction control plate 3 which is arranged at the surface side on which the ruggedness shapes 12 are formed of the light transmission plate 1 and which is constituted so as to be capable of emitting light with an output angle smaller than an angle of incidence by providing shapes 32 whose light-emitting surfaces form a fixed angle with respect to an incident plane. Then, the light emitted from the light transmission plate 1 with a shallow angle receives a direction control into a deep angle by the light direction control plate 3 to be made incident on the liquid crystal display panel 4 roughly vertically.
