PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain low resistance and high capacity by comprising a polarizable electrode and an electrolyte soln. contg. at least one kind of nitrile compds. shown by specified formulae. SOLUTION: In a capacitor which utilizes an electric double layer formed at the interface between a polarizable electrode and electrolyte soln., the solvent of the electrolytic soln. contains at least one kind of nitrile compds. represented, by a formula R-CN (R is an alkyl group or group shown by CmH2m1 (m = an integer) mutually bonded at one to coordinate). The nitrile compd. is pref. acetonitrile. The electrolytic soln. pref. contains a mixed solvent of the nitrile compd. (with one or more kinds of compds. selected among cyclic carbonic acid esters, cyclic carbonic acid ester cyclic ethers, sulpholane and sulpholane deriv.).
