PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower costs when distances to parts of a subject are measured based on reflected light from the subject by irradiating the subject with intensity-modulated light. SOLUTION: Intensity-modulated light emitted from a semiconductor laser 11 is made to irradiate a subject 20 with a projection lens 13 through a condensing lens 12 and the reflected light from the subject 20 forms an image with an imaging lens 14 on a photodetecting part 15 provided with a differential circuit to determine a difference between received light signals of adjacent two photodiodes. The received light signals obtained at the photodetecting part 15 are inputted into a distance distribution computing part 17 to determine distance distributions to the parts of the subject 20.
