An auxiliary starting carburetter comprises a bimetallic strip 18 controlling a fuel valve 21 and a suction-operated valve 11 controlling the flow of mixture to the intake pipe 8. The valve 11 is moved off its seat 9 by intake suction acting through aperture 12, controlled by a valve 14 connected to the strip 18 A piston 15 at the top of valve 14 is also responsive to intake suction so that the valve 14 is controlled by both temperature and suction. The strip 18 is enclosed by an insulated casing 2 supplied through pipe 3 with air heated by the exhaust pipe 4. A lightly loaded valve 32 ensures sufficient suction to withdraw fuel from the nozzle |
