摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color liquid crystal display device which allows the combined existence of all of three colors; white, red and blue, in a color development state of high purity with a time-division driving system by using a color polarizing plate of a purple system which is relatively lower in the degree of polarization at red and blue than the degree of polarization at orange to green. SOLUTION: At least three colors including the white of the high purity, likewise the red and likewise the blue are developed in the same display unit by selecting >=3 values of different voltage values by the time-division driving. At this time, the color polarizing plate of the purple system having the high degree of polarization in the wavelength region of the orange to the green is used, by which the green of the greenish white is suppressed and may be changed to the perfect white and the purity of the red and blue of the wavelength region of the low degree of polarization is maintained and, therefore, the combined existence of all of the three colors; white, red and blue, in the color development state of the high purity is made possible. The color development is pink red at the time of non-impression of voltage and changes to pale pink, red, white, pale blue and dark blue as the voltage is increased.
