PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal unit in which display quality is improved by unifying the peripheral equipment around the liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal unit is used for a transmission type liquid crystal projector and has a liquid crystal panel 1 whose both surfaces are closely held with frame bodies 5, 6 to which polarizing plates 3, 4 are fixed. Thereby, as cooling air does not blow directly against the liquid crystal panel 1, sticking of foreign matters such as dusts on the liquid crystal panel 1 is avoided. Furthermore, hollow parts 5a, 6a for housing the polarizing plates 3, 4 are provided in the frame bodies 5, 6 so that the distances between the polarizing plates 3, 4 and the liquid crystal panel 1 become proper distances, and the polarizing plates 3, 4 are adhesively fixed on the hollow parts 5a, 6a. Thereby, even when the dusts are stuck on the polarizing plates 3, 4 by blowing the cooling air to the polarizing plates 3, 4, as the distance comes off from the focal depth of a lens, deterioration of the display quality is avoided, and as the liquid crystal panel 1 is closed by the both frame bodies 5, 6 the formation of dew condensation is prevented and, accordingly, there is no growth of a mold. |
