PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having improved image stability and to provide a processing method for the sensitive material by which rapid processing can be performed, and a processing method for the sensitive material by which a high image density is ensured without using a processing solution of a high pH. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a photosensitive silver halide, at least one coupler, at least one color developing agent of the formula (L)n-D and an oil-soluble organic basic compound on the substrate. In the formula, L is an electron withdrawing group which can be released in development, D is a residue derived by removing (n) pieces of hydrogen atoms from HnD having developing activity and (n) is an integer of 1-3. The oil pH variation (ΔpH) of the oil-soluble organic basic compound is preferably >=+0.1. The oil pH variation is defined by the equationΔpH=[pH of 1 wt.% solute-containing ethanol/water = 8/2 (volume ratio) solution at 25 deg.C]-[pH of ethanol/water = 8/2 (volume radio) solution at 25 deg.C].
