PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a physical ID(PID) detecting and restoring device which can contribute to improving the performance and reliability of a system. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an AM-PID detecting section 100 detecting an address mark(AM) pattern and a PID pattern from 8 to 14 modulation (EFM) data in an enable-section of an inputted signal, and outputting an AM detected signal and a PID pattern, a PID error detecting section 200 detecting whether an error is caused or not by decoding a PID pattern, and outputting decoded PID data and a OID error signal, a sector counting section 300 outputting a counted value of residual size of the sector, and a PID window generating section 400 receiving a counted value from the sector counting section 300, generating a signal for detecting a PID pattern at the time of finish of one sector count, and outputting it to the AM-PID detecting section 100.
