PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable communication among a unit, sub-unit and function block by housing the function block in the sub-unit inside the unit. SOLUTION: The data transmission system is provided with a digital STB 60, a DTV 70 and an audio amplifier 80. A video monitor sub unit 71 is housed in the DTV 70, and further a decoder function block 72 and a feature function block 73 are housed in this video monitor sub unit 71. Besides, an audio sub unit 81 is housed in the audio amplifier 80 and a decoder function block 82, feature function block 84 and processing function block 83 capable of having a common function with the decoder function block 72 and feature function block 73 are housed in this audio sub unit 81.
