PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for evaluating an orientation film and a recording medium recording an orientation film-evaluating program, whereby a molecular orientation state of a thin film sample having an optical anisotropy can be evaluated in a wide range and in a short time. SOLUTION: A monochromatic light projected from a monochromatic light source 6 passes a polarizer 2. Only a p-polarized light hits a surface of a sample 20 with a Brewster's angle 1 to be reflected to pass an analyzer 3. Only an s-polarized light is detected by a color light detector 7. Since the monochromatic light source 6 and the monochromatic light detector 7 are placed in different directions, a direction of an anisotropy axis can be limited.
