PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrification device of ozone-less non-contact electrification system, capable of improving the reliability of the electrification, by making an electrostatic latent image carrier electrified in non-contact state and letting electromagnetic waves and the electric field properly applied. SOLUTION: This electrification device provided with an electro-magnetic wave irradiation device 1 and electric field forming means 4, 5 and 6, makes an electrostatic latent image electrified to a desired potential Vs by radiating electro-magnetic wave in a space on the electrostatic latent image carrier 2 by the electro-magnetic wave irradiation device and forming the electric field by the electric field forming means. In this case, a grid electrode 3 is arranged between the electro-magnetic wave irradiation device 1 and the electrostatic latent image carrier 2, and to set respective potential so as to satisfy the next inequality, Vi<Vg<Vp, or Vi>Vg>Vp, when assuming bias applied on the grid electrode 3 a Vg, the bias applied on the surface 1a on the electro-magnetic wave irradiation device 1 at least, opposite to the electrostatic latent image carrier 2 as Vi, and the bias applied on the back surface side conductive part 2b of the electrostatic latent image carrier 2 as Vp.
