<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for evaluating a motion vector, in which there is no possility that the correct evaluation of the motion vector cannot be made. SOLUTION: This device is provided at least with a motion compensating type image interpolation section A, where a motion vector assigned to an optional block in an image of an f-th field, an image of an (f-1)-th field and an image of an (f+1)-th field are supplied and outputting an image of an interpolated block of the f-th field interpolated to compensate a motion at the same spatial position as that of the optional block and with a comparison section B where an image of the optional block and an image of the interpolated block in the f-th field are supplied and obtaining a correlation between the image of the optional block and the image of the interpolated block in the f-th field. The device is constituted so that the comparison section B outputs the magnitude of the obtained correlation as an index of the correctness of the motion vector in an arbitrary block in the image of the f-th field.</p> |
