摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intensify the reading capability of a read head of a magnetic tape data storage device. SOLUTION: This method for the data storage device which may be constituted to write and read the stream of data as a series of tracks in a direction crossing the main length of a data memory medium minimizes the difference between the route that the read head of the data storage device follows up and the route that the plural tracks written on the data memory medium follows up. The method described above reads the plural data block fragments constituting at least one among the written tracks from the data memory medium (1401), stores the respective positions of the plural fragments existing within the tracks of the read data into the memory device (1402), and stores the time for reading the respective fragments of the plural fragments of the read data (1402). In succession, calculates the differences between the positions of the read fragments on the data memory medium and the corresponding ideal positions (1404, 1405, 1406, 1407 and 1408) and corrects the route that the read head of the data storage device follows up by using these differences.</p>
