Biological material (A) for preparation of pharmaceuticals to treat mammals comprises: (i) at least one nucleic acid (I) encoding part of an antibody (Ab), expressed on the surface of a target cell and able to bind to a polypeptide present on the surface of a cytotoxic effector cell or T-helper cell and implicated in activation of this cell; or (ii) a target cell modified in vitro with at least one (I). (I) includes the gene for Ab plus expression control elements for in vivo expression of this gene in target cells genetically modified with (I). The target cell does not naturally express an antibody. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) pharmaceutical composition containing (A); (2) mammalian cell (B) that does not naturally produce an antibody, genetically modified with at least one (I); and (3) preparation of (B).
