The document digitization technique has a flat surface (14) with the document on it, and an overhead analysis unit (16) forming an image of the document. The analysis unit has a photosensitive detector analyzing an image line in a first direction, and a displacement unit moving the image line in a second direction. A light generator (20) lights the document in a luminous band which sweeps the plane surface in the second direction.
