PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method of organic chlorine compounds in an ash melting furnace exhaust gas for decomposing the DXN resynthesized in an exhaust gas cooling process in an exhaust gas treatment of an ash melting furnace and a total treatment method for purifying an ash melting furnace exhaust gas. SOLUTION: In this method, an exhaust gas neutralizer from an ash melting furnace (in the case of a reducing atmosphere, including a CO combustion chamber of the latter part thereof) 10 is rapidly cooled in a cooling tower 11 to which the neutralizer is given, and then dust and/or a reaction product are removed in a dust collection device 12. After that the DXN resynthesized in a cooling process is brought into contact with oxidation catalyst at approximately 250 to 150 deg.C so as to decompose the DXN in the exhaust gas.
