PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio video synchronizing reproducing device where a deviation from a reference time after changeover is avoided and accuracy of synchronous reproduction after the changeover is enhanced even in the case that a plurality of digitally compressed audio data are reproduced separately. SOLUTION: In the audio video synchronous reproduction device that decodes and reproduces a plurality of digitally compressed audio data and digitally compressed video data, when reproduction of decoded audio data resulting from decoding the audio data is switched into reproduction of video data, a reference time generating section 5 calculates a reference time based on the reproduction data quantity of the decoded audio data going to be switched, and a synchronizm control section 6 controls a video decoder 12 based on the reference time so as to execute the reproduction of the decoded video data resulting from decoding the video data and the switched decoded audio data synchronously with each other.
