PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a PTC(positive temperature coefficient) thermistor element the elemental thermistor body of which has small thickness, can be reduced in resistance, and is hardly broken and which can be constituted as electronic parts with lead wires. SOLUTION: A PTC thermistor element 1 is provided with a plate-like elemental thermistor body 2 which is composed of a barium titanate ceramic and has a thickness of 0.1-0.3 mm and both main surfaces of which have areas of 25-121 mm2 or maximum dimensions of 6-17 mm in the facial direction, a pair of electrodes 2c and 2d respectively formed on both main surfaces of the elemental thermistor body 2, lead wires 3 and 4 which are respectively connected to the electrodes 2c and 2d, and an insulating resin layer 7 which is formed so as to cover the elemental thermistor body 2, except for the portions where the lead wires 3 and 4 are led out.
