PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sealing an electroluminescence device and its sealed device. SOLUTION: A method for sealing an organic electroluminescence(EL) element 10 includes the steps of providing an EL element 13 on a substrate 12 and a metal sheet having a stand-off structure dependent on the metal sheet, the stand-off structure encircling a cavity 23 larger than the EL element. The stand- off structure is arranged on the EL element in the condition that the EL element is nested in the cavity. The metal sheet is adhered to the substrate on the outside of the circular field of the stand-off structure to seal the organic electroluminescence element in the cavity. If a plurality of EL elements are manufactured on one substrate, the metal sheet is subjected to perforation around the respective elements to separate extra metal therefrom and separate the substrate therefrom for providing individual EL elements.
