PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable sealed battery by jointing a sealing member to a battery case on the periphery of a filling hole by ultrasonic welding, and airtightly sealing the filling hole. SOLUTION: Insulating paper 4 is arranged at the bottom of a bottomed square enclosing can 2 composed of Al-based metal to house a power generation element. A spacer 9 is arranged on an electrode body 5, and a cover body 3 of the Al-based metal is airtightly jointed to the opening part of the enclosing can 2 to assemble a battery case 1. An electrolyte is filled from a filling hole 11 to be airtightly sealed. Insulating paper 17 is arranged on the surface of the cover body 3, insulating paper 19 is arranged on the bottom part outside surface of the enclosing can 2, a PTC element 20 is arranged in a slit 18, and the whole battery is put in an enclosing tube 21 to be thermally contracted. A shape of the jointing part to a sealing member by ultrasonic welding is desirably a doughnut shape, the sealing member is a plate shape, the sealing member has a rivet shape having a projecting bar inserted into the filling hole, its thickness of the welding margin part of the sealing member is 0.08 to 0.30 mm, and the sealing member is an O material of annealed Al.
