PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate initial setting without reading an appended instruction manual, and to make effective use of resources such as paper and equipment. SOLUTION: A recording medium 2 such as a newly provided tape and disk stores, in addition to a video signal, a control signal for controlling a setting operation mode, needed for initial setting such as time setting based on an instruction manual. During the use of the device, when this recording medium 2 is reproduced, a control microcomputer 5 controls a reproducing/recording part 6 to display the instruction manual based on the signal reproduced from the medium 2 on a display part 7, display a current time setting screen or the like in a static picture reproducing mode when a control signal is supplied from a control signal reading part 3 during reproducing, to execute the reproducing mode again after performing user setting using an input part 4, and to perform other setting similarly. Thus, without reading the instruction manual, initial setting such as time setting is facilitated. |
