The invention relates to an air operated control and drive installation for load lifting systems, such as pneumatically equilibrated manipulators, meant for achieving the control and the vertical displacement of pieces or devices during working and mounting operations. In order to simplify the construction and to improve the control of the load vertical displacement, the installation is provided with a pneumatic dispenser (B), having a plurality of working positions which, by passing successively on the working positions (a, b, c, d and e) by means of a one-way valve (10) from a valve block (C), supplies compressed air to a pneumatic cylinder (13) with a simple effect, which carries out the load a displacement with variable speeds controlled by means of some drossels (8), incorporated in the pneumatic dispenser (B). In order to improve the safety conditions in operation, the installation is provided with a valve block (C) comprising a pneumatically or manually controlled one-way valve (10), which works in harmony with the pneumatic dispenser (B) achieving the protection of the lifting system if a conduit is pulled out or cracked, and a second adjustable discharge valve (12) ensuring the protection of the lifting system in case of an overloading, by discharging the air from the pneumatic cylinder (13), into the atmosphere when the pressure overpasses a certain value. The installation may be used both in vertical load lifting devices and in more complex manipulating systems.
