Producing a synchronous drive belt from a multi-plied belt band built around an internal drum mould having adjacent right and left hand rings with teeth-forming grooves therein

A method of producing a synchronous drive belt having teeth extending from a belt surface includes the steps of building a multi-plied belt band around an internal drum mould, curing the belt band, and segmenting the cured belt band into belt widths. The method includes assembling the drum mould. The mould has a first set of concentric moulding rings 28 comprising adjacent left and right hand rings 30, 32 having teeth-forming grooves 34A, 34B therein. The grooves are separated by a predetermined pitch. The belt band is segmented into belt widths while the band is positioned on the drum mould. The belt widths are removed from the drum mould by sliding the right hand ring away from the belt width in a first direction and sliding the left hand ring away from the belt width in a second direction. The drum mould may comprise more than one ring set 28 and successive ring sets 28 may be separated by centre blank rings 36 which act as spacers.
