PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge whether the prescribed area of an input picture is a chromatic color or not and to reduce memory capacity by judging the hue area of the picture inputted form outside, dividing it into the unit of a plane picture element and judging whether the respective plane picture elements of the divided hue area are chromatic color picture element or not. SOLUTION: In a hue division part 1601, data are divided into the signals of R, G, B, C, M, Y, Bk and W. The boundary of respective colors is obtained, a difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of RGB is defined as an RGB difference and colors are divided. The outputs (c), (m) and (y) of the hue division part 1601 are accumulated in a C memory 1602, an M memory 1603 and a Y memory 1604 by five lines. A color picture element judgment part 1605 independently counts the planes of (c), (m) and (y). Pattern matching is executed on the parts of color picture elements which are judged in the hue division part 1601 and in which all (c), (m) and (y) are numbers except for '1' or '0' in 5×5 and the color picture element is judged. Then, an original is judged to be the color one or the black/white one. |
