PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a liq. crystal display device with a simple and easily productive structure holding satisfactorily a broad angle of visibility property and elevating front brightness with using scattered light having high brightness and high directivity generating from a roughened surface, light scattering particulate or the like. SOLUTION: A surface light source device 10 is provided with one surface of a light emitting surface 15, light sources 12 in at least a pair of side end parts 11a, 11b placed opposite to each other in a light guide body 11 providing a light emitting system, and a light control sheet 17 on the light emitting surface 15. In this case, the angle of visibility distribution of a outgoing light beam 20 obtaining after transmitting the control sheet 17 by an incident light beam from only one side end part 11a is specified to be at a position, in which a peak position of brightness is leaned in an angle more than 5 degree from a normal 21 direction of the light emitting surface 15. |
