SURFACE LIGHT SOURCE DEVICE AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device with improved angle of view and front luminance and to provide a liquid crystal display using the same device. SOLUTION: In a surface light source device which has a light transmission body 11 whose one surface is made a light emitting surface and in which a light take-out means is provided and line shaped light sources which are provided at both opposing side end parts of the light transmission body 11 and which is constituted by providing a light control sheet 17 on the light emitting surface, this device is a surface light source device which has features that the light take-out means consists of a roughened surface or light scattering particles and the light control sheet 17 is a triangular prism shaped prism array whose vertex angles are directed to the side of the light emitting surface and whose top angles are 45 to 65 degrees.
