PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent positive/negative reversal in reflection and transmission in using a P/S polarized light separation element. SOLUTION: A first polarizing plate is arranged on a front side of a liq. crystal panel and a second polarizing element 2 is arranged between the liq. crystal panel and a backlight. Where an orthogonal transmissivity of the second polarizing element 2 is lower than the orthogonal transmissivity of a P/S polarized light separation element 1 and an angle formed by an axis of polarization in the second polarizing element 2 and a transmission polarizing axis of the P/S polarized light separation element 1 is specified in 90±10. |
