An inhaler has a holder (6) with pockets (10) for a single dose of powdered medication and closure with pads (7) resiliently urged to close the pocket(s). A device moves the pocket into registration with an opening in a housing of the inhaler and simultaneously lifts the pad to open the pocket. The holder may be a disc with pockets arranged on one face and the closure is a polycarbonate spider (11, 12). Also claimed is an inhaler with staggered baffle plates (9) to help disintegrate powder agglomerations
