The device comprises a marker profile(15) made of a material which can be impregnated by lacquer or suchlike and which has a rounded press-on section(15'). The marker profile is movable from a position in which it is immersed in an open top lacquer filled tank(11) onto the component(17,18) located above the tank. The cross section of the press-on section of the marker is semi-circular, and at least the top surface of the marker is made of an elastic foam material such as cellular rubber. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for applying lacquer to a surface in which a marker profile impregnated with lacquer is raised from an immersed position in a tank to press against a component located above it.
