Exponential amplification of molecular matrices, useful for chemical evolution of e.g. peptides or nucleic acids, by synthesizing copies of immobilized matrices

A method for exponential amplification of molecular matrices (MM) is new and comprises: (1) binding MM to the surface of a solid phase via a reversible linker; (2) adding matrix fragments (MF), one of which contains an optionally protected linker unit; (3) synthesizing copies of MM; (4) removing excess MF and reaction auxiliaries; (5) separating copies of MM; and (6) populating free binding sites on a solid phase with the synthesized copies.
