PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by cutting of the power required for displaying image on TV screen when a sleep timer is set and a viewer hears only a TV audio signal. SOLUTION: A sleep set time inputted via a user interface section 101 is set to a timer section 102. A fact of setting of a sleep timer is inputted to a video display off time detection section 103, which executes detection of a video display off time. When the video display off time detection section 103 detects a video display off time, the video display off time detection section 103 outputs a detection signal to a power supply section 104. The power supply section 104 receiving the detection signal stops supply of power to a video display section 105. In this case, no display is made on the screen of a television receiver, but only an audio signal is outputted from the television receiver.
