PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an electronic controller incorporated with a debug module to investigate the failure of mass-products by using the debug module without limiting a function while suppressing the increase of the number of kinds. SOLUTION: An ECU 1 is provided with a CPU 4, a flash memory 8 and a debug module 7. A switch 9 common to two lines is inserted in the middle of the clock signal line Lclock and the power source line LVCC, which are connected to the debug module 7, and the switch 9 is opened/closed by a register 10. A command is transmitted from a personal computer 20 to the ECU 1. Thus, the debug module 7 is set to a disable state before the shipping of a target product and the content of the memory is prevented from illegally being rewritten by using the debug module 7. Since the debug module 7 is set to the enable state, the failure of the mass-products is investigated by using the debug module 7.
