This invention is intended to propose a buffing cell that can provide very high damping effect while having a small weight per a unit volume, and that can be divided into a plurality of pieces without deteriorating the damping effect. The buffing cell (10) comprises a pneumatic chamber (14) defined by a flexible nonwoven fabric (11) and a vinyl film (13) airtightly attached to the fabric (11), and a mass of sponge (12) housed in the pneumatic chamber (14). A sponge layer (12a) attached to an outer face of the pneumatic chamber (14) may be used instead of the mass of sponge (12) housed in the pneumatic chamber (14). A sports protector can be made from a plurality of the buffing cells (10).
